Congratulations to the DC marchers!

Hats off to all the Tea Party marchers who assembled in Washington today. Crowd estimates range from 1.2 to 2 million people!
Here’s a YouTube video that shows time lapse images of the march from a traffic camera in downtown Washington.

The march was only one facet of the protest. Those of us who were not able to get into DC in time for march were still there to let our voice be heard. The Metro was jammed as were the streets for those who were trying to enter the city. We started into the city at the station at 11:00 and did not make it to mall area until 1:00. But, we were ther to hear the speeches and be a part of this glorious celebration, even if the press was not.
We are Roanoke Tea Party members. We were at the 9/12 March on the Capital, and we had a wonderful time. It was exhillerating being with so many folks who felt as we do, and that we are finally doing something to let the corrupt politicians know that we are onto them and not going to take it anymore. We’re ready and waiting for the next event.
I just love how the media throws around the meager word of “thousands” to describe this crowd. From what I saw it should be more like 100′s of thousands. How much more can they possibly downplay 1.5 million people in one place protesting their government?
I was there….the DC police esimated 1.2 million at 11:30. See this foreign press report for a more accurate count and a great pic

My wife and I attended the march and the crowd was too large for my pea brain to estimate. Based on sporting events I have attended, the “tens of thousands” counts are sadly understated. The 1.2 million number I have seen in a few places seems reasonable. We joined the march at a late juncture (around 11:00), but there were still tons of people working their way up Pennsylvania Avenue. We roamed for several hours rather than sitting in one place (and, boy, did my feet and knees feel it). The variety of banners was incredible. We ran into at least a dozen people who had made “Joe Wilson is Right” signs similar to ours. Big Media can choose to downplay the event and Statist politicians can pretend that Dick Armey drove everyone to D.C. However, they cannot ignore the reality that something is happening in America. Regular folks want their country back and are willing to do whatever is necessary to accomplish the goal.
