January 18th. 10th Amendment Revolution Lobby Day/Rally. Virginian Patriots Unite!
on December 7th, 2009 at 8:42 pmDuring the American Revolution, Virginia was always seen as a leader. Without the brilliant written eloquence of Thomas Jefferson, the iron will and wisdom of George Washington and fiery oratory of Patrick Henry, American independence may never have been won.
It’s time once again for Virginians to take the lead in saving our country. The people have already spoken and installed Conservatives into positions of power in Richmond. It’s now time for Virginia to take the lead in fighting for our state rights that are guaranteed by the 10th Amendment to the Constitution.
There are 2 bills that will be brought before the House of Delegates in 2010. One asserts the rights of Virginians to choose their own path with health care and will invalidate insurance mandates passed by the Federal government. The feds are using interstate commerce as the excuse to apply Federal rules to health care. But if a person chooses not to purchase health care insurance, there is no interstate commerce to regulate. Mandating health insurance is patently unconstitutional. This law defends our rights to choose.
The second will assert that guns that are manufactured and sold in Virginia are not subject to any federal regulation. Since there would be no interstate commerce, the 10th Amendment would allow Virginia to regulate these guns in any way we see fit.
These laws will require politicians to take a stand against the Federal Government. It will require courage. The bills are written and the governor and Attorney general have pledged their support.
It will require pressure from We The People on those legislators that might not have the intestinal fortitude for such bold action. It is my understanding that rallies outside of the state house rarely see more than a few hundred protesters. If we can harness the power of the Tea Party movement, we can bring thousands of supporters for these measures.
Not only will we be rallying, but we will be attending meetings in the State House, going into the house offices to lobby our legislators etc. The DC elites may be too insulated for marches to “matter.” After the turnout for the 2009 elections, it’s hard to see how very many VA politicians won’t be influenced by a massive showing on January 18.
