I would say that a nearly 30% sign up rate is fantastic - especially given how disorganized we were at the table. Another dozen folks said that they would check online for a chance to sign up.

The local media shows up when we "do something." I'm not sure we will get them out for a regular meeting unless we have a speaker or something possibly contentious or newsworthy on the agenda.

They might come out in April if we publicize it as the final planning meeting before our 4/15 rally.

Otherwise... all very good points.

I got an email with some detailed requests....some of this echoes stuff I put above...but gets into some more details around HOW ro structure the meeting. Good thoguhtful stuff.

structure broad committees based on particular interests/concerns
...monthly meetings present BRIEF committee reports
...portion of monthly meetings devoted to committee meetings
...committees/'neighborhood groups' meet regularly outside of monthly meetings

...take suggestions for committees on-line & present in March
,,,have committees meet in March
...provides immediate opportunity for energies & ideas for action

..Legislative Reform/Candidates Committee(?) makes suggestions for support of particular legislative agenda & candidates at monthly meet. (no more politicians intoning)
...Education C(?).: outreach to promote conservative philosophy
...Discussion C(?): opportunity for debate (meeting time does not devolve into preaching to the choir)

Concerns:

...small % of membership sign-ups considering turn-out #
...postpone Lynchburg Tea Party until we are more able to engage Roanoke public
...local media showing up in March; considering latest liberal media presentations of Nashville Convention & Tea Party Cruises, we need to present ourselves as a force to be reckoned with
