Mr President,
You sir are SO wrong on your border comments… but they illustrate why your administration is failing.
Borders define our nation. Our differences define us from all other countries.
Mexico has millions of citizens desperately seeking to leave to come to our great nation. There must be a difference to drive that behavior…here are few.
- We are a Republic that was designed to protect the right of the individual. Mexico is a virtual dictatorship.
- We (up to a few years ago) believed in the Free Market and have created the greatest wealth/job creation engine in world history. Mexico is a republic beset by graft and failed socialism (as if there is any other type of socialism)
- We have (up until a few years ago) a functioning Constitution. Mexico is run by drug cartels.
- Up until a few years ago, we had a nation that was the model for fiscal soundness. Despite massive oil reserves and other natural resources, Mexico is mired in a hopeless debt situation. (Well that’s not much different anymore…but it didn’t used to be that way)
It comes as no real surprise that you believe that are borders don’t matter. You don’t seem to understand that the USA is a unique and wonderful experiment that is the last best hope for mankind.
I would ask you to change your mind, but you seem to be married to your progressive ideological positions. I can only express to you the growing outrage that so many Americans feel, at your callous disregard of this nation’s core principles.
When you continue to see you poll number decline, rest assured it is comments like this that are the drivers of this discontent. If you let your advisers convince you it is based on race, ignorance or other convenient scapegoats concocted by your progressive friends, you are kidding yourself.
Since I don’t believe you will change your core positions, I pray that your administration ignites a rebirth of leadership that will restore the principles that once made this nation great…and can make us great once again.
In the end, your failed administration may be the lever that drives a restoration of our nation’s core principles. 2010, 2011 and 2012 will give us a chance to make that change in the Federal and State elections. I pray we have leaders worthy to replace you and your progressive friends.
