Working on several hot items…(The national news is so frustrating…it is much more productive to focus on what we can control)
We are working with individual in Botetourt, Bedford, Blacksburg who are organizing local Tea Party Groups. These groups can really focus on local issues.
The Southwest Virginia Tea Party is off to a great start.
Here is what they have been up to…
“Attended a Smyth County Board of Supervisor Public Hearing on May 11, 2010 to challenge the need and Constitutionality of a $25,250,000.00 proposal that was to be voted for on May 13, 2010. We convinced The Board to put a continuance on the vote and provide more information and additional public hearings an the matter. This action bought us the needed time to research the need and constitutionality of the proposal. We had 40 Tea Party members in attendance at this public hearing.
May 14, 2010, filed a request for information under the Virginia Freedom of Information Act to the Smyth County Administrator and the Smyth County Clerk of the Circuit Court.”
Ron Blevins and this group really are making an impact!
We are also working on July 4th and community outreach programs…we’ll have much more on this for our June 3rd meeting.
