Are you sick of coming home every evening to another story of how the Federal government is destroying this nation? Frustrated because you don’t know what do? There is an answer.

State Sovereignty.

The Federal Government was empowered to handle certain aspects which were specified in the US Constitution. Everything else was supposed to be handled at the state level. These enumerated powers were never meant to extend into areas that the Federal Government is into now. And they certainly were never intended to be there to support a tyrannical federal government. I won’t rehash the repeated offenses of the current Administration, they are chronicled well elsewhere.

This is why November’s elections will have only a slight impact on the direction of the government. A few more Republican Congressman and Senators will not be able to somehow shift decades of drift away from states rights.

We all are noticing now, that we have leaders in DC that are hell bent on infringing on individual liberties, destroying the free market system and bankrupting the nation.

But we have allowed the Federal Government to seize powers they were never intended to have, and put ourselves in a position where our basic rights are imperiled by the Federal Regime that has seized the power to imperil our nation.

But we can stop it…

The state tea party federation will be supporting a state sovereignty bill in the next legislative session. While resolutions like this are not new, they stop short of having anything but a symbolic impact.

We are crafting a resolution that:

Reasserts the original intent of the Constitution and asserts Virginia’s right to judge whether Federal laws, regulations and Judicial rulings go beyond the enumerated powers and violate the 9th and 10th Amendment.

Allows Virignia to nullify unconstitutional Federal laws, regulations and Judicial Rulings.

Requires the Commonwealth to protect the citizens from unconstitutional mandates and actions from the Federal government.

In addition we will be supporting a Constitutional Amendment that will reassert state level authority at the federal level by allowing 2/3 of states to repeal any Federal law.

There is no way that a corrupt and self perpetuating Federal Goliath can be trusted to relinquish power. It will be up to each state to do it…

To make this work we have to have control of the state legislature in the 2011 election cycle. Every state senator is up for reelection and we must seize this moment to get leaders into Richmond who have the courage to fight for our rights.

Because we know for sure that the corruptocrats in  DC will not.
