There are still some tickets available for this Saturday evening Freedom For Virginians Act (FFVA) fund raising dinner featuring Sonnie Johnson from the Frederick Douglas Foundation and Mike Powell, local businessman and former candidate for City Council.  Please RSVP patriot@freedomforvirginiansact.org to RSVP. Tickets are only $40 per person/$70 per couple. More info here…

Attached is a letter that was sent to the Roanoke Times by one of our friends in the Patriot movement. There is plenty of evidence of an unsavory alliance between 9th District Congressional candidates Jeremiah Heaton and Rick Boucher.  Some of the information that should be investigated is below…hopefully the local media will pursue this as a follow up to their article on the lack of disclosure of funding for campaign ads for the 9th and 5th Districts.

“Perhaps somewhat related to the subject are PACs like “Committee for
Southwest Virginia”.  If you “google” it, you will be connected to
OpenSecrets.org.  While donors to that PAC are disclosed (with about
$300,000 raised), you will see lavish expenditures for luxurious
lodging and meals at the Westin Riverfront Resort and Spa in Colorado,
travel expenses reimbursed for Rep. Rick Boucher, catering by Vail
Catering Concepts and Chef De Cuisine Epicurean Services, etc.  How
about contributions made to political candidates in Utah, Texas, and
Florida?

I’m not sure how many folks in Southwest Virginia could afford such
luxury.  Personally, I would rather see the money spent in Southwest
Virginia.

The Treasurer for the Committee for SOUTHWEST VIRGINIA?  Rick Boucher’s wife.”

While you are at it, you might want to take a look at Independent
Candidate Jeremiah Heaton’s business relationship with Mr. Boucher’s
wife.  While it may be innocent and irrelevant, there might be a story
there.

As you know, Mr. Heaton has been excoriating Morgan Griffith. Heaton lives in Abingdon, and owns the Damascus General Store which comes
under Mr. Heaton’s LLC, Holston Mountain Ventures, LLC.  Damascus
General Store often pays Mrs. Boucher, a frequent visitor to the
store, to play country music at the store on many week-ends.

While I am confident that all of these activities are probably
perfectly legal, you might want to consider simply asking Congressman
Boucher (and Jeremiah Heaton) about that business relationship and why
it has not been disclosed.”
