Prayer Meeting tonight for our Tea Party Members….Pray for our nation and our Tea Party Group. 5PM Windsor Hills Baptist Church, 4436 Grandin Rd, SW. Wish I could be there…but I’m meeting with the bylaws committee this evening…and working probably right up to the start of that….Please pray for our board.

No new news on replacing Morgan Griffith in the 8th House District (primarily in Salem). So far the only candidate on the Republican is Greg Habeeb. We have met with Greg and are withholding a final word on his candidacy until we get a chance to see who else will be running.

We do find it interesting that the local GOP is sending out mixed messages. The local leadership has been soliciting for candidates to run, while having every political heavyweight in the valley publicly throwing their weight behind the Habeeb candidacy. Is there strife within the party or are they just trying to make it seem less like a fait acompli? Would you spend your money or time on a primary campaign against Habeeb based on the forces lined up to support him? I sure would have to take a pause.

I certainly don’t blame Greg Habeeb for lining up endoresments from Griffith, Goodlatte, Cuccinelli and Ralph Smith. He would be foolish not to if he could. I also don’t think it necessarily reflects on his potential to be an effective advocate for our principles.

Just not sure if the move to find a primary opponent is rooted in genuine political opposition or a move to make it look like this wasn’t all pre-arranged. I ultimately don’t really care what the GOP does internally…I just find the political dance interesting and illustrative as to why so many are disenchanted with politics as usual.

We’ll have another section ready soon on additional legislative ideas. The next one will focus on several nullification bills, and why the Commonwealth would be better served by the Freedom For Virginians Act.
