All 3 of our local Congressman voted for the Continuing Resolution pushing back for 3 weeks a vote on the new budget. That is 3 more weeks for the $100 billion that was slipped into the Obamacare, 3 more weeks to put off the hard work that needs to be done to get our fiscal house in order.
This is the cowardly way…the wrong way! We adamantly oppose this tact. Read our position by clicking this link.
Congressman Goodlatte waffled when we spoke to him a few weeks ago. According to some outlets, he was going to vote against it. I gave the Congressman the benefit of the doubt. I made a BIG mistake.
All 3 Congressman, danced around the issue but ultimately failed to do the right thing.
Goodlatte supports the balanced budget amendment and talks a good game, but ultimately caved.
Congressman Hurt told constituents he had no interest in a continuing resolution. Then voted for it anyway.
Congressman Griffith rode the fence, then told constituents a few days ago he would support the CR.
Thet are all salving their conscience by touting the $6 billion in cuts they put in the CR.
Rubbish. 54 Congressman/women demonstrated real independence and courage and realized the pitiful cuts in the CR amount to rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.
3 weeks will go by. And we will be in the same spot we are in now…Only hard choices can make an impact on the budget.
Our Congressman don’t have the spine for those choices.
There will be a protest in the 9th District tomorrow. There will likely be protests in our district and the 5th district as well.
3 weeks from now, it needs to be painfully clear to these politicians they will have to make a choice. Politics as they knew them are over.
There can be no more delays
No more waffling
No more excuses
We demand that Congressman Goodlatte take the King/Bachman pledge and vote against CR that doesn’t defund the $105 billion in Obamacare funding.
The Roanoke Tea Party understands the ramifications of a government shutdown. But it is obvious that the Congressman in question have no idea of the seriousness of the current fiscal crisis.
They have to be willing to shut down the government. If they don’t have the guts to do this and stand up for principle, we will never get this ship straight.
We will do everything in our power to remind him over the next 3 weeks. Stay tuned for action alerts.

The campaign has already begun in the Fifth Congressional District. If you look at the new website I just created, we are determined to force Hurt to stop the pandering or we will NOT support him come reelection. This is not what we elected him to do.
Past candidate for 5th district Rep. Primary against Robert Hurt. Would like to come speak to your group. If interested e-mail me or 540-537-5920. PS I expected no less from my representastive.
