First Look at the New Congressional Districts: Update: Not So Fast!!
on August 25th, 2011 at 3:46 pmUpdate: Received an email from Delegate Greg Habeeb stating that this was still a tentative plan. The 9th District has to be expanded as they have lost population. The Democrats, I am confident, would like as much of the Democratically leaning Roanoke City in the 9th district as possible. So this would be the plan they would likely favor as they look for someone to go up against Morgan Griffith.
Sorry we jumped the gun. More to come when the plan is finalized.
Thanks to Karen Kwiatkowski’s campaign, we have the first look at the new Congressional Districts. It looks like much of the Roanoke area will now fall into the 9th District. You can click on the two links below to get a better look.
You can check it out yourself on this map from the state. I believe you can even put in your address to see where you fall, if you are close to the line.

Morgan Griffith will now have Salem, Roanoke City and part of Roanoke County in his district. Goodlatte still has a good portion of Roanoke County and Botetourt.
So many of you who have been in Goodlatte’s district will have a different race to look at. And we will have to keep up with two separate Congressional races.
This link has a close up view.
This one a bit higher level.

Thanks for the info.
