I have been asked by several people why we aren’t more involved in the Edwards/Nutter race.  I usually remind people that if it hadn’t been for the Roanoke Tea Party, there may not have been a Dave Nutter campaign.

Who captured a 14 minute YouTube video of John Edwards admitting he didn’t read last year’s budget? Plus other nuggets of information in this video that would ensure you would never vote for this guy.

Who made a local issue out of Edward’s killing immigration reform and getting support from La Raza?

Who got Edward’s Smart Way Pork Project into the newspapers?

Who has consistently pointed out Edwards’ failings on the radio almost every Saturday? Heck we even have a John Edwards sound effect.

And in the press here

And here… Where we promised to run someone against Edwards….Edwards seemed very unconcerned with this response.

Who then found a candidate to run against Edwards when there seemed to be no hope for any opposition?

If you guessed the Roanoke Tea Party you get a prize.

I have a strong opinion about how the Dave Nutter campaign cut in on the Tripp Godsey campaign. Tripp was in the race for weeks prior to the Nutter announcements. The GOP leadership in Richmond tried to ignore Tripp and marginalize his campaign. Their actions were shameful. And Dave Nutter’s (at best)  so-so voting record is something that the Roanoke Tea Party can’t overlook and therefore we can’t offer him an endorsement.

But one thing remains certain. John Edwards is one of the worst state senators in Richmond. And the Democrat/Rino majority in the State Senate kill every piece of decent legislation that gets out of the House of Delegates. Dave Nutter would likely be better than Edwards. That’s about as far as I can go in helping Dave Nutter.

But the state GOP should be thanking us for the work we did in illuminating the record of John Edwards. Without the Roanoke Tea Party you know what you would have heard about John Edwards? The same thing you have heard from the GOP over the last decade as they allowed Edward’s to run unopposed for his State Senate Senate….
