…another trampling of the U.S. Constitution.

In Article 2, Section 2, which defines and describes the President’s job, the plain-text last paragraph says:

“The President shall have power to fill up all Vacancies that may happen during the Recess of the Senate, by granting Commissions which shall expire at the End of their next Session.”

Is any of that hard to understand? It means, when the Senate is in recess, and unable to advise and/or consent to the President’s nominees, he can fill the position temporarily.

President Obama just made 4 recess appointments – 1 to the CFPB (Consumer Financial Protection Bureau), and 3 more appointments to the NLRB (National Labor Relations Board).

These goings-on may be politics as usual, to the inside-the-beltway talking heads, and the hacks over here at Politico, who call this use of recess appointment power “murky.” The worst is, even if it is ethically void of political action, it would all be perfectly legal, except… the Senate is STILL IN SESSION!

The President of the United States has just defied Constitutional process, and denied the Senate a say at all in nominations to two agencies.

Your assignment this week, fellow Patriots: Call your Senators and ask how they feel about having their Constitutional authority usurped by this gangster of a President.
