Time to tie-in a current news cycle story with an upcoming event.

Most of us heard the news flash today that President Obama had compromised, allowing that religious institutions would not be forced by the Health Care Law to provide contraceptives to employees, which would violate the protected religious beliefs. Instead, he decreed that insurance companies will step up and provide these services free of charge.

Check out this story at CNS News.

The President didn’t compromise anything. He didn’t suddenly grow some deep respect and understanding for the Catholic Church or the 1st Amendment. This was a calculated political move. While giving the appearance of tolerance and compromise, President Obama just granted himself (and every succeeding President) the authority to order private business/industry to provide goods and services free of charge.
OK – Everyone who thinks it’s free, raise your hand. Of course it’s not free. Someone is going to pay for it. And that someone may not necessarily be someone who is consuming the good or service. Now, anyone who thinks insurance providers won’t raise their premiums to compensate for the extra incurred costs, raise your hands. See how this works? This is what happens when the Federal Government does things it has no authority to do. These actions, no matter how well-intentioned, have extremely damaging and lasting consequences.

How does all this tie-in to an upcoming event, you say? It’s widely expected the U.S. Supreme Court will hear arguments on the constitutionality of several aspects of the PPACA (Obamacare) this Spring. To herald that hearing, a rally in Washington D.C. is being planned for March 27th. Americans for Prosperity will be providing buses, to depart from several locations around the State, including Roanoke. Here is a link to information, and to register for the trip.

Fellow Patriots, this needs to be bigger than just another rally. The fully implemented Health Care Law will bankrupt this Country. (And it’s not like we’re exactly brimming with cash now.) Daily and weekly we find out about provisions within the Health Care law that are nothing less than heart-stopping. It’s a frightening scenario we find ourselves in; depending on the Court to stop this insanity.
