Which Vision of America Do You Believe In?

People across the nation are up in arms about this statement made by President Obama here in Roanoke Friday evening. As usual, this is an issue we have been hammering on for years.
The official transcript relates:
“There are a lot of wealthy, successful Americans who agree with me — because they want to give something back. They know they didn’t — look, if you’ve been successful, you didn’t get there on your own. You didn’t get there on your own. I’m always struck by people who think, well, it must be because I was just so smart. There are a lot of smart people out there. It must be because I worked harder than everybody else. Let me tell you something — there are a whole bunch of hardworking people out there.”
The inference of course is that the government made this nation great. Not individual hard work and initiative. Or successful people got their because they were lucky. Or had a rich uncle. Not surprisingly, the reaction to these words has been astounding. But it is really nothing new form Obama or his minions.
This is a perfect example of the progressive ideals that Obama is the perfect spokesperson for. As I pointed out recently, this is the basis for a movement that has been trying to fundamentally transform this nation for decades. Progressives have been spouting off about this for years behind the scenes. But now we have an articulate and effective progressive in the White House and now FINALLY people are starting to get offended.
“The government didn’t make this nation great. Individuals made this country great. From Henry Ford to Steve Jobs, entrepreneurs have created wealth and solved problems. From medical breakthroughs to microchips, American individuals has lead the way to a society blessed beyond measure with material wealth and opportunity.”
That is a message that wins. Stop playing defense and attack and push these ideals that people love! These are basic principles the Democratic leadership seeks to destroy. Now that more people are starting to see what he have been expressing for years, perhaps we can join hands and start working to save our country.
