Leviticus 11: 10 But anything in the seas or the rivers that does not have fins and scales, of the swarming creatures in the waters and of the living creatures that are in the waters, is detestable to you. 11 You shall regard them as detestable; you shall not eat any of their flesh, and you shall detest their carcasses. 12 Everything in the waters that does not have fins and scales is detestable to you.
For Christians, this is out with the New Covenant. Acts Chapter 10: 9-16
9 About noon the following day as they were on their journey and approaching the city, Peter went up on the roof to pray. 10 He became hungry and wanted something to eat, and while the meal was being prepared, he fell into a trance. 11 He saw heaven opened and something like a large sheet being let down to earth by its four corners. 12 It contained all kinds of four-footed animals, as well as reptiles and birds. 13 Then a voice told him, “Get up, Peter. Kill and eat.”
14 “Surely not, Lord!” Peter replied. “I have never eaten anything impure or unclean.”15 The voice spoke to him a second time, “Do not call anything impure that God has made clean.”16 This happened three times, and immediately the sheet was taken back to heaven.
Chip, that’s a reference to bringing Gentiles into the fold, and not a release from dietary restrictions.
Skeeter, I think that analysis is dead wrong. God said “do not call anything impure that God has made clean.” What does that mean? Does Shrimp and Lobster become unclean once you are saved? This kind of legalism is EXACTLY what Jesus skewered the Pharisees for througout his ministry. We have 20% of the population of this nation who deny the existence of God…large numbers of churches don’t accept the concept of hell. Half the population belives it is OK to kill an unborn child….And you are going to start an argument over seafood? Skeeter you need to get your priorities in order.
They have Chicken at Parkers
Yes. But I had shrimp. The fruit of the sea was delicious. God Bless shrimp!
