Why Do People Support Obama: Part 2: Cool Kids

In part 1 of this series, I delved into the question that mystifies many of my family and friends: Why would someone in their right mind support the re-election of the serial liar that occupies 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.
In part 1, I discussed the Paid Off…those that are dependant on the federal government. There are a lot of people, good people, that fall into this group. Folks who have bought the lie that raising taxes on rich people will somehow magically erase all of our fiscal issues. There is a way to reach some of these folks if they can be shown the lies they have been told.
But I don’t know thre is any easy way to reach this next group. Because it is just cool to vote for Obama. Witness this cool T-shirt you can get at Urban Outfitters. And if you pay any attention to pop culture, there is always a not to subtle pull to move folks towards the left. Voting for Obama…it’s what the celebrities do…it’s what cool people do. Witness this video with dopey Obama supporters. They have no idea of basic civics. But they do know what the media wanted them to know…
- This group knew Sarah Palin could see Russia from her house. (Which of course she never said).
- They had no idea Obama said he campaigned in 57 states.
A dishonest and biased media is one common denominator between the Paid Off and the Cool Kids. But for the cool kids, you are going to need to find a way to get in the media and make the truth seem cool. Being a rebel used to mean fighting the establishment.
But for many of these cool kids, it is just blindly buying a t-shirt and voting for the cool candidate. Part 3 coming soon.
