Roanoke Tea Party

I read an article this morning that details Tom Davis’ (wealthy establishment GOP icon) efforts to gut the Tea Party’s influence in Virginia.

Not that this should be a big surprise to anyone.  The establishment folks, after abandoning the tea party candidates on the field of battle in November, are now looking for alternatives. I am fine with business focused candidates, but are those the kinds of business focused candidates that are wanting to cozy up to the government and create more corporate cronyism? Are they going to stand up for Constitutional freedom and against the federal government?

That remains to be seen.

While I am always leery of these folks, it will be interesting to see what kind of candidates Davis and his ilk will put forward. I would imagine we will likely see the etch a sketch type of Republican…the kind who will say the right things while getting the nomination and then immediately start moving to the middle in the general election.

The GOP establishment keeps saying they want to win.  However, just ask Mitt Romney how that etch a sketch strategy worked out for him?
